Press echoes of NanoElRei, in Romanian
The NanoElRei Summit (see here the final programme and presentations)was organized at the initiative and with the participation of Dr. Andreas Wild, the Executive Director of ENIAC-JU (public-private partnership in nanoelectronics).
The local organizers were the National Institute for R&D in Microtechnologies (IMT-Bucharest) and Infineon Technologies Romania (IFRO), in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Bucharest (CCIB), University “Politehnica” of Bucharest and Technical University “Gh. Asachi” of Iasi.
The event highlighted the fact that Romania is now a full member to ENIAC-JU, i.e. public funding is provided to Romanian participants in successful projects (see the 2010 ENIAC JU call). Supplementary information about the ENIAC-JU call in 2010 (in Romanian) is accessible here.
The purpose of the Summit was to underline the potential of Romania for nanoelectronics, as illustrated by both the international companies with subsidiaries in this country and the academic institutions (universities and research institutes).
Apart from the organizations already present in the programme, other participants contributed to the poster session, as well as to the Round-table discussion moderatedby Dr. Wild. The decision to create a “cluster” or a “network” related to nanoelectronics was considered at this meeting.

IMT support centre for MIcro- and NAnoFABrication (IMT-MINAFAB)
IMT-MINAFAB is an interface created by IMT - Bucharest in order to fully exploit its tangible and intangible assets in micro- and nanotechnologies (clean-room facility, equipments, human resources, partners and clients). The so-called “fabrication centre” is in fact a complex technological platform including also CAD tools, characterization equipments, a mask shop, a reliability lab.
Centre for Nanotechnologies - CNT. Prior 2009, the Centre for Nanotechnologies was represented by one laboratory (Nanotechnologies Laboratory), functioning as excellence centre under Romanian Academy ages. Starting January 2009, the Centre of NanoTechnologies CNT-IMT is extending its activities becoming an interdisciplinary centre offering a variety of scientific and technological services in the nanotechnology field.
