Centre for NanoTechnologies - CNT excellence centre under the Romanian Academy ages!

Prior 2009, the Centre for Nanotechnologies was represented by one laboratory (Nanotechnologies Laboratory), functioning as excellence centre under the Romanian Academy ages. Starting January 2009, the Centre of NanoTechnologies CNT-IMT is extending his activities becoming an interdisciplinary centre offering a variety of scientific and technological services in the nanotechnology field.

The Centre of NanoTechnologies CNT-IMT involves the activities of the following laboratories:

  • Laboratory for nanotechnology
  • Laboratory for nanoscale structuring and characterization
  • Laboratory for molecular nanotechnology
  • Laboratory for scientific services (will contribute to some extent)

These laboratories put forward for collaboration new “state of art” facilities/equipments concentrated in the technological area (Grey Area) in the form of experimental laboratories (EL):

  • Laboratory for nanotechnology:
    • EL for “Microarrays” – NanoBioLab;
    • EL for surface spectroscopy;
    • EL for X-Rays diffraction;
    • EL for nanoparticles;
  • Laboratory for nanoscale structuring and characterization:
    • EL for Electron Beam Lithography (EBL)/ Scanning electron Microscopy Laboratory (SEM) – NanoScaleLab;
    • EL for e-line work station;
    • EL for SEM/FEG;
    • EL for SPM;
  • Laboratory for molecular nanotechnology:
    • EL for nanofluidics;
  • Dip pen nanolithography Laboratory;

The main specific activities of the centre consist in:

  • correlation of R&D activities and services of the laboratories involved, also offering technical and financial support;
  • dissemination of the common offer towards potential partners and beneficiaries outside IMT-Bucharest;

The centre will offer access to the set of facilities for the members of the technological networks financed in 2005-2008 by the CEEX programme for research of excellence, which supported the establishment of the first experimental laboratories NanoScaleLab and NanoBioLab. The access will be established on bilateral basis.
