Dear Colleague,

We would like to invite you to participate in the upcoming 3N Workshop (2nd Nanoforum Workshop) that will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria during October 11-13th, 2004.

This European Commission sponsored event is planned to provide a platform of well-known Nanotechnology experts and professional to bring participants up-to-date on the current status and results of nanomaterials and their related applications.

The aim of this Nanoforum event is to facilitate bilateral scientific technical cooperation on a governmental and European level. The highlighted lectures from the Networking session will include IP/NoE presentations.

The first event ( HYPERLINK http://www.nanoforum.org/events/workshop/ http://www.nanoforum.org/events/workshop/) served as a platform to unite scientists in the nanomaterials field from both Western and Eastern Europe with the hope of initiating further collaborations. We hope to continue with this interactive platform in this second edition (3N Workshop) and build on its success.

3N Workshop topics will cover a wide-range of fundamental research through applications to the economic implications of Nanoscience.

Topics: Networking, Nanomaterials (magnetism, etc.), Biomaterials, Nanotubes, Modelling/Theory, Nanochemistry, Nanodevices and Nanotools (SPM,etc.).

We take seriously the support for future generations of scientists. For this reason, the 3N Organisers have set aside student grants for both local and European graduate students. The grant recipients will be expected to present a poster on their work during the poster session.

Keynote speakers from around the globe will be featured at the 3N Workshop, and most importantly, the Workshop also provides an opportunity to understand the technological, the initiatives, and the impact of the nanosciences.

If you are interested in presenting an oral or poster contribution at this event, please send us as soon as possible an abstract (2 pages max including figures and references - word format, and indicating clearly the type of presentation you would like: oral / poster).

More details will be available soon on a dedicated 3N Workshop website (preliminary WEB site at:  HYPERLINK http://www.nanoforum.org/events/3N/) http://www.nanoforum.org/events/3N/). Meanwhile, you may contact directly the organizers:

Sofia Bulgaria is a rich historic city. Over the ages it has received influences from the Roman and Ottoman empires among others. This gives the city a unique mix of European and Arabic architecture.

We hope you can join us in Sofia.
